Multi-strategy hedge fund major Balyasny Capital Management and New York-based quant SquarePoint Capital have both tapped the talent pool at Google DeepMind as they look to bolster their AI capabilities, according to a report by eFinancial Careers.
Su Wang, formerly a Researcher at DeepMind, has been recruited by Balyasny as a senior research engineer. Wang spent a year at DeepMind, following three years of AI research at Google, DeepMind’s parent company. His expertise includes vision-language navigation, text-to-image generation and AI model benchmarking.
Squarepoint Capital, meanwhile, has hired Google DeepMind Staff Research Engineer Grégoire Delétang as Quantitative Researcher based in London to focus on large-scale deep learning.
Balyasny’s AI efforts are centred around its BAM ChatGPT, described as an “AI equivalent of a senior analyst,” which was made available to employees over a year ago.
