London-based hedge fund Ilex Capital, founded by former Citadel traders, has continued its rapid expansion with the recruitment of a former Balyasny Asset Management quant researcher, underscoring its push into systematic and data-driven investing, according to a report by eFinancial Careers.
The firm has hired James Osoi as a quantitative researcher. Osoi previously worked at Orbis Capital Management and spent more than five years at Balyasny, where he contributed to quant and quantamental strategies across London and Singapore.
Ilex has grown quickly in recent years, with assets under management rising to around $7 billion and headcount surpassing 40 employees, alongside a recent move into larger office space in Kensington. While still relatively light on quantitative staff, the firm has been steadily building out its capabilities in this area, including earlier hires from UBS.
