Jain continues recruitment drive ahead of 2024 hedge fund launch

Former Millennium Management executive Bobby Jain is continuing preparations for what is expected to be one of the biggest hedge fund debuts in history by making a number of key appointments and securing office space around the world, according to a report by Bloomberg.

The report cites an unnamed source with knowledge of the matter as revealing that Jain has hired Townie Wells as Chief Investment Officer for fundamental equities in the Americas. Wells is due to join Jain Global in October 2024 having spent two years at Ashler Capital, Citadel’s equities unit.

Paul Enright, who spent 12 years at Viking Global Investors before starting his own family office six years ago, has been appointed as Chairman of Jain Global’s fundamental equities unit, while Sam Kellie-Smith, a 26-year Morgan Stanley veteran, will serve as the firm’s head of Asia, based in Singapore.

Multi-manager, multi-strategy firm Jain Global, which is expected to launch with as much as $10bn next year, has secured accommodation for its headquarters at 510 Madison Ave in Manhattan, and is also planning to acquire office space in London, Hong Kong and Singapore in the coming months.
