Bobby Jain’s hedge fund Jain Global has bolstered its investment team with the hiring of Joseph Kansao, formerly a partner at BlackRock and an event-driven strategies specialist, as a Portfolio Manager, according to a report by Financial News.
Kansao spent over nine years at BlackRock Global Event Driven Strategies, a multi-billion-dollar multi-strategy hedge fund platform. Prior to BlackRock, he was an analyst at UBS.
The move is part of a wider push by Jain Global to expand its portfolio management capabilities. Since the start of 2025, the hedge fund has added several senior hires, including former Millennium portfolio manager Grégoire Thomas, Bank of America’s macro specialist Kavi Gupta, and Millennium’s Costas Constantinides.
Jain Global launched in July 2024 with $5.3bn, marking the largest hedge fund debut since ExodusPoint’s $8bn launch in 2018. The fund has grown rapidly, now employing more than 350 staff across New York, London, Houston, Hong Kong, and Singapore.
