Marex has expanded its prime brokerage capabilities with the launch of a proprietary liquidity aggregation platform covering foreign exchange and precious metals, targeting hedge funds, asset managers and other professional investors.
The new platform brings together liquidity from multiple FX and precious metals dealers through a single prime brokerage relationship, allowing clients to access multiple pricing sources without establishing and managing a series of bilateral relationships.
In a statement, Marex said the system is designed to provide deeper liquidity, tighter pricing and more streamlined execution, while integrating with clients’ existing trading workflows.
At the centre of the offering is an aggregated pricing engine that combines live prices from tier-one and specialist liquidity providers into a single executable stream. An execution system modelled on smart order routing can then provide anonymous access to different liquidity pools in an effort to secure the best available price.
For hedge funds, the platform is also intended to improve capital efficiency by incorporating FX and precious metals into Marex’s broader cross-asset prime brokerage infrastructure.
Portfolio-level cross-margining allows clients to offset exposures across positions, potentially reducing capital requirements and improving balance-sheet utilisation.
The offering combines trading access with custody, clearing, settlement, confirmation and reconciliation through a single counterparty. Marex said clients can also connect reporting and workflows with its wider infrastructure covering equities, fixed income, futures and derivatives.
