Marex has bolstered its prime brokerage and outsourced trading sales team in New York with the appointment of Patterson McDonald, as the firm continues to scale its global offering for hedge funds and asset managers.
McDonald joins Marex from Jefferies, where he served as Senior Vice President for five years, focusing on outsourced trading and relationship management for top-tier accounts, including emerging hedge fund launches. With over two decades of experience across trading, technology, and institutional sales, McDonald brings a cross-functional perspective to the expanding prime services platform at Marex.
His prior roles include head trader positions at hedge funds Incline Global Management and Signpost Capital, and earlier, director at Eze Software Group, where he supported buy-side clients in optimising their trading infrastructure and workflows. His background in equities, options, commodities, and FX trading gives him an edge in addressing the operational and execution challenges faced by hedge fund clients.
At Marex, McDonald will work directly with hedge funds and asset managers, focusing on delivering bespoke prime brokerage and outsourced trading solutions that align with their strategic goals, enhance execution, and support long-term growth.
His hire comes amid a wave of strategic appointments across Marex’s global prime services team, reflecting increasing institutional demand for alternative prime solutions. Recent additions include Serhan Eryuksel in London (from UBS), Charlie Monson in Dubai, and Rebecca Kim (Smithurst) in Singapore, the firm’s first prime services hire in Asia.
