Millennium Management has hired Tomiyuki Oji, a former managing director at Nomura Holdings, as a senior portfolio manager in Tokyo, adding to the multi-strategy hedge fund’s growing equities operation in Japan, according to a report by Bloomberg.
Oji most recently served as Asia-Pacific head of index flow derivatives trading at Nomura’s brokerage business. He recently joined Millennium, according to his LinkedIn profile. A Millennium representative reportedly declined to comment.
The appointment follows another senior equities hire in Tokyo by Millennium. Masaya Imabuchi, previously a manager at Mizuho Securities, joined the hedge fund as a senior portfolio manager in July.
Oji spent 15 years at Goldman Sachs’ Japanese securities business before joining Nomura, gaining extensive experience in equity derivatives trading during his career at both firms.
