Millennium hires ex-Goldman Sachs quant from Citadel

Related Topics

Multi-strategy hedge fund major Millennium has hired Samuel Krasnik, a former Goldman Sachs quantitative strategist who most recently worked at rival hedge fund Citadel, according to a report by eFinancial Careers.

Krasnik has joined Millennium in New York as a quantitative researcher after spending two years on gardening leave. He previously worked at Citadel as a quant research lead following a long stint at Goldman Sachs.

Krasnik spent 12 years at Goldman Sachs after joining the bank in 2009 and was promoted to managing director in 2017. During his time there, he worked as a quantitative strategist – part of Goldman’s influential “strats” group that blends quantitative development with front-office trading support.

He led the FAST (Franchise Analytics Strategy and Technology) team within the bank’s global markets division. The group developed data and analytics tools used by front-office traders, including systems incorporating artificial intelligence techniques such as natural language processing.

Krasnik is one of several recent Goldman alumni to join Millennium. The Financial Times recently reported that the hedge fund also hired Erdit Hoxha, a Goldman Sachs partner and co-head of equities.

Millennium reportedly declined to comment on the hire.
