Millennium Management has hired a senior equities business development executive from rival hedge fund Schonfeld Strategic Advisors in London, as the firm continues to expand its equities platform in Europe, according to a report by eFinancial Careers.
Sameer Buch, previously head of EMEA fundamental equity business development at Schonfeld, has joined Millennium in a move that underscores intensifying competition among large hedge funds for talent tied to equities strategy growth and portfolio manager recruitment.
While his exact new role has not been formally disclosed, he is expected to support Millennium’s ongoing efforts to recruit equities portfolio managers and expand its London-based investment footprint.
The hiring comes amid a broader push by Millennium to deepen its equities capabilities in Europe, including senior appointments from major investment banks and hedge funds. The firm has recently strengthened its equities leadership in London, including bringing in experienced executives from Goldman Sachs and other multi-strategy platforms.
Millennium has been actively building out its equities team over the past year, reflecting continued investor demand for multi-strategy hedge fund platforms capable of scaling across regions and asset classes.
Schonfeld reportedly did not comment on the departure.
