Motive Partners hires former Citadel CTO

Related Topics

Motive Partners has appointed former Citadel chief technology officer Umesh Subramanian as a partner, tasking him with leading the firm’s artificial intelligence initiatives as it deepens its focus on technology-driven investing, according to a report by Bloomberg.

Subramanian is set to join in July and will become part of the firm’s executive leadership team as well as its growth and buyout investment committee. Motive Partners invests across financial technology and technology-enabled services businesses in both North America and Europe, spanning early-stage ventures through to growth equity and buyouts.

In a statement, Subramanian said AI represents a “pivotal moment” for the financial services industry, adding that he is looking forward to helping drive the next phase of transformation in how institutions operate and compete.

At Citadel, Subramanian previously served as Chief Technology Officer, overseeing global engineering functions that supported the hedge fund’s research, trading and risk management systems. He also played a central role in integrating artificial intelligence, large-scale data infrastructure and cloud technologies across the organisation, and most recently acted as a senior adviser.

Before joining Citadel, he spent 13 years at Goldman Sachs, where he held a range of technology leadership roles.
