Point72 Asset Management, the hedge fund firm found by Steve Cohen with over $27bn in assets under management, is continuing to expand both its cryptocurrency and quant teams based in Paris, according to a report by eFinancial Careers.
The firm is currently looking to a add a quant developer to to its “fast-growing” team in the French capital as Point72 looks to “expand our crypto business.”
The new recruit will be the latest firm’s latest quant hire in France following last month’s appointment of Raphaël Fernandez, Quant Researcher and Pricing Lead at crypto market maker Portofino Technologies, as a quantitative analyst.
In July last year, Point72 also hired senior quant developer Julien Desmont in Paris, formerly VP of engineering for crypto proprietary trading firm Modeling Ventures.
Other recent big name crypto and quant hires include Terence Schofield – the former CTO of crypto hedge fund Pantera Capital – who joined as Head of Digital Assets in late 2022 and, and Elie Galam, who was appointed as Head of Digital Assets at Point72’s systematic arm Cubist in June 2022, from Jump Trading.
