Point72, the $37bn multi-strategy hedge fund founded by Steven Cohen, is offering an annual base salary of up to $400,000, plus discretionary bonus, as it looks to hire a senior AI/ML staff engineer in the US, according to a report by Financial News.

The successful candidate will work closely with data scientists, engineers, product teams, and compliance staff to integrate artificial intelligence and machine learning solutions into both existing and new products, according to a job posting on Point72’s website.

The hiring push is part of a broader effort by Point72 to build out its technology and AI capabilities. The firm is currently recruiting for more than a dozen AI and ML roles across its offices globally. In March, Point72 appointed Kendall Jager, formerly of Millennium, as head of AI, investment services in New York.

Point72’s hiring spree comes as other major hedge funds ramp up their investment in AI talent. Balyasny Asset Management is recruiting applied AI engineers in New York and London, while Millennium is hiring senior AI engineers in Miami and New York, according to LinkedIn postings.

Earlier this year, Point72 hosted its first global technology hackathon across its London, New York, Singapore, Stamford, and Warsaw offices, with nearly 100 participants competing in a 24-hour coding event aimed at sparking innovation across its technology platform.
