Fieldfisher hires renewables partner as Co-Head of Energy and Natural Resources

European law firm Fieldfisher has appointed Matthew Williams as corporate partner and Co-Head of Energy and Natural Resources, based in London and Birmingham.

Williams joins the firm from Orrick, where he was Co-Head of their European Energy Practice.
 
From January 2019, Williams will help lead Fieldfisher’s power and renewables practices – areas in which he is an established and highly respected transactional lawyer. He has extensive experience in project finance, M&A, commodity trading and corporate restructuring, having worked with a wide range of clients including power generators, energy utilities, investment banks and private trading houses.
 
Prior to Orrick, Williams was Co-Head of Energy and Natural Resources at Hogan Lovells, having previously been in-house counsel at National Power.
 
Williams’ key areas of focus are in solar and wind energy, waste to energy, biomass and battery storage projects, alongside work in the conventional power generation sphere, concentrating on M&A and project development.
 
He will share leadership of Fieldfisher’s flagship Energy and Natural Resources sector with corporate partner, Dominic Gurney-Champion.
