Quantitative hedge fund Qube Research & Technologies, which has $36bn in assets under management, has begun reducing headcount following several years of aggressive hiring, according to a report by eFinancialCareers citing people familiar with the matter.
The firm, which employs close to 2,000 staff globally, has made cuts primarily in Singapore. Some of those affected were regarded internally as strong performers.
The reductions follow a significant build-out across technology and research functions. Public data show QRT employed 733 people two years ago, before scaling up with the opening of a new Singapore office last year.
