Qube Research and Technologies has bolstered its options business with the hire of Beat Ammon, formerly head of options market making at Hudson River Trading amid interest in his services from rival top-tier firms, according to a report by eFinancial Careers.
Ammon, who left HRT in 2024 and was on gardening leave, was reportedly being courted by firms including DE Shaw and IMC Trading. Ultimately, he opted to join Qube as head of research for options market making.
Before his tenure at HRT, Ammon spent a decade at Morgan Stanley and seven years at Citadel, giving him extensive experience across both proprietary trading and institutional market making.
Ammon’s arrival is seen as a strategic move for Qube, which does not publicly disclose performance but is believed to have delivered strong returns so far in 2026. By bringing in a senior market-making specialist, Qube aims to scale its options operations and compete more aggressively in the increasingly active quant options space.
Neither Ammon nor DE Shaw reportedly commented on the hire, and Qube declined to provide details.
