London hedge fund Redhedge Asset Management has appointed former JPMorgan Chase global investment-grade and macro credit trading co-head Pierre Morel as a lead portfolio manager, according to a report by Bloomberg.
Morel reports directly to chief executive Andrea Seminara. His remit will include helping develop the business and supporting recruitment across front-office investment roles, according to Seminara.
Morel spent his JPMorgan career focused on global credit markets, with experience including market-making in single-name credit default swaps covering financial institutions and trading subordinated bank debt issued for regulatory capital purposes.
He left JPMorgan around a year ago, according to his professional profile. Bloomberg previously reported that Morel was preparing to retire from the bank after Nick Adragna was selected to take over leadership of its global investment-grade and macro credit trading business.
His move to Redhedge represents a return to the hedge fund industry following his lengthy career on the sell side.
