Rokos Capital hires Deutsche Bank MD to lead quant investing

Related Topics

Rokos Capital Management has appointed Deutsche Bank managing director Tarik Hsaini as head of quantitative investing, strengthening the London-based hedge fund’s systematic capabilities following a strong performance year, according to a report by Financial News London.

The reports cites Companies House filings as revealing that Hsaini has joined Rokos as a partner, marking a senior addition to the firm’s investment team. He spent more than eight years at Deutsche Bank, where he held a managing director role, and previously worked at Goldman Sachs for over a decade.

The hire comes as Rokos Capital continues to expand its London operation after delivering a 21% return in 2025, significantly outperforming the broader macro hedge fund universe, which posted average gains of around 7%, according to Hedge Fund Research (HFR).

Hsaini’s appointment reflects a wider trend across the hedge fund industry, as discretionary macro managers increasingly invest in quantitative expertise to enhance portfolio construction, risk management and signal generation.
Demand for experienced quantitative professionals has accelerated in recent months. Earlier in January, Brevan Howard hired former Eisler Capital managing director Valdo Durrleman as head of quantitative analytics, while Balyasny Asset Management added former Goldman Sachs executive director Tibor Kucs as a senior quantitative researcher.
