Brazilian hedge fund SPX Capital has added to its US equity investment team with the appointment of Robert Kim, former Chief Investment Officer of AllianceBernstein’s AB Arya Partners, as a portfolio manager, according to a report by Bloomberg.
The report cites unnamed sources familiar with the matter as revealing that Kim, who started at SPX this week, will be based in New York, where he’ll focus on managing a US stock portfolio, utilising both long and short positions.
Founded in 2010 by Rogerio Xavier, Daniel Schneider, and Bruno Pandolfi in Rio de Janeiro, SPX Capital is one of Brazil’s largest hedge funds, managing approximately BRL58bn ($10bn) and employing 280 staff.
Its flagship Nimitz fund has gained 10.8% this year, outperforming the Anbima Hedge Fund Index, which rose 4.4% and tracks a selection of local hedge funds.
