St Louis-based wealth management firm Stifel is looking to strengthen its alternatives research capabilities with the appointment of a gatekeeper focused on hedge funds and liquid alternative strategies, according to a report by CityWire.

The report cite a recent job posting as confirming that the firm is recruiting an assistant vice president for hedge funds and liquid alternatives. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting due diligence on hedge funds, liquid alternatives and related tax strategies.

The role also calls for expertise across a range of tax-efficient alternative investments, including exchange funds, opportunity zone funds, 721 exchange strategies, tax-aware long/short separately managed accounts and tax-focused hedge funds.

Candidates are expected to have at least three years of relevant experience and hold a CFA qualification, while CAIA and/or CFP credentials are also preferred. The position is office-based and no salary range was disclosed.

The new hire would join Stifel’s existing investment gatekeeping and research operation, which includes chief investment officer Michael O’Keefe and research director Matt Kelley.
