Macro hedge fund Tudor Investment Corporation has hired Mizuho Bank's former head of fixed income strategy, Jordan Rochester, as it continues to expand its investment capabilities in the Middle East, according to a report by Bloomberg.
The report cites unnamed people familiar with the matter as revealing that Rochester is set to join Tudor later this year as a fixed income and foreign exchange strategist based in Dubai. He is expected to start the role towards the end of October or in early November.
The move follows Rochester's departure from Mizuho earlier this month, less than two years after joining the bank to help strengthen its fixed income and currency research business across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Before joining Mizuho, Rochester was a foreign exchange strategist at Nomura International, where he became widely known for his analysis of the UK's departure from the European Union, earning the nickname "Mr Brexit".
He has built a reputation for macro and rates calls, including a successful recommendation earlier this year to short UK interest rate futures at the onset of the US-Iran conflict.
The appointment further reinforces Tudor's commitment to Dubai as a growing hub for global macro investing. The Paul Tudor Jones-founded hedge fund established operations in the emirate in 2024 as part of a broader trend that has seen leading hedge fund managers expand their presence in the Gulf to access regional talent, investors and trading opportunities.
Rochester and a spokesperson for Tudor reportedly declined to comment on the appointment.
