Two Sigma increased average employee compensation at one of its London businesses by more than a third in 2025, even as the number of staff at the entity fell, according to a report by eFinancial Careers.
Accounts filed by Two Sigma International show that average salaries and wages rose to about £503,000 last year, up from £377,000 in 2024. That represents an increase of roughly 34%.
The figures provide an indication of the continued value placed on quantitative investment talent in London, despite a period of change at the US-based hedge fund.
Two Sigma International provides investment management and administrative services to a number of the firm’s hedge funds and affiliated investment companies.
Its workforce fell to 85 employees from 93 a year earlier. The decline does not necessarily mean that eight people left Two Sigma altogether, however, as some employees may have transferred to another London entity.
A separate business, Two Sigma Securities UK, operates in proprietary trading and appears to be connected to the firm’s market-making activities.
That entity employed 14 people in 2024 and paid average compensation of about £608,000, although its latest accounts have yet to be filed.
Two Sigma continues to recruit in London despite the changes to its workforce.
The firm moved into a new office close to Liverpool Street in March, taking one floor initially while refurbishing another to accommodate further expansion.
The company is currently advertising several positions in the UK capital, including roles at Two Sigma Securities, which has described itself as entering a period of growth.
