Alternative asset management company Man Group has hired Miriam Tai as Head of US Consultant Relations. Tai, who is responsible for advising on the full range of Man’s products and services to the US investment consultant community, will be based in Man’s New York office and reports to Raffaele Costa, Managing Director and Head of Sales for North America and Europe.

Tai joins Man from BlackRock where she was the Director of Global Consultant Relations and responsible for developing and managing the firm’s relationships with strategic investment consultants. Her appointment underscores Man’s strategic commitment to the US institutional market as a top priority for the firm.

Following the acquisition of the US-listed GLG Partners last year, Man Group offers a comprehensive range of strategies and styles from single strategies including managed futures, equity long-short, global macro, emerging markets, credit and convertibles to both broad based and focused fund of funds.

"Man has outstanding, risk adjusted investment performance across a full range of strategies and styles," says Costa. "Miriam’s experience and relationships will be invaluable as we continue our strategy of providing comprehensive, tailored investment solutions to investors. The consultants play a vital role in advising institutions on their asset allocation decisions and having a dedicated senior professional on board advocating for our whole platform will be extremely productive.

"The North American market is an absolute strategic priority for Man. We believe that our transparent, solutions-based approach to alternatives, as well as our focus on risk management, addresses the changing needs of investors."

Tai has over eight years of experience in the financial services industry. She spent over five years at BlackRock and Barclays Global Investors overseeing relationships with strategic investment consultants. She began her career in the Fixed Income division of Goldman Sachs and then served as an Associate in the Structured Finance Division of Stone and Youngberg LLC. Tai received her BA from the University of Chicago and her MBA from the Haas School of Business at the University of California at Berkeley. Ms. Tai is both a Chartered Financial Analyst and a Chartered Alternative Investment Analysts charterholder.
