Producers Capital Syndicate, a fund consolidator and funding placement firm specialising in the entertainment industry with offices in New York, Los Angeles and London, has launched a new division, Entertainment Investment Advisors, to farm show business investment opportunities from the major distribution and releasing companies.

According to PCS president Ned Stuart, EntInvest will specialise in providing business intelligence on investment placements in high-end films, Broadway productions and entertainment industry-linked theme parks. Its co-heads will be Broadway-based Lang Syne Films development executive Robert Gwyer and PCS funding specialist Phyllis Galloway.

The new division will operate out of PCS’s Broadway offices in New York, with branch operations in Beverly Hills and London, and will work alongside the group’s Small Investors Consolidated Fund.

The fund packages and administers venture and angel capital from small and mini investors into lump sum investments, and places cafeteria and blanket investments from accredited and institutional investors into individual and/or slated production packages at major studios and production companies.

According to PCS, individual and institutional investors are typically approached mostly by generally unprofitable small independent filmmakers rather than by the much more profitable major production companies and studios.

Medium- and large-budget motion picture funding and large-budget Broadway funding lock out small investors because tracking small investments is not considered cost-effective. Creating an efficient investment consolidation group and fund management framework promises to allow small investors entry into high-ticket and often highly profitable ventures.

EntInvest seeks to make the blue-chip side of the entertainment industry open to a much wider segment of the investing public, offering potential investors the advantage of dealing with advisor-partners with the experience to assess the benefits and drawbacks of entertainment industry debentures.

EntInvest will channel information to PCS and its investment partners concerning funding opportunities in motion pictures, Broadway productions, major network television production, and various ancillary ventures such as amusement parks and resorts.

According to PCS, the initiative centralises investment intelligence for film production throughout the US, UK, Canada, Australia and Ireland to facilitate effective capital placement, and plans are under consideration to expand into the German, Japanese, Hindi, French, and Chinese language production markets.

PCS and EntInvest are currently fielding buy-ins and investment intelligence for several high-profile production packages with investment ranges of up to USD750m, and time-frames of up to 12 years.
