Partners Group, the Switzerland-based global alternative asset manager, has collaborated with Jana Investment Advisers, one of the leading investment consulting firms in Australia, in the successful launch of a new multi-manager hedge fund product in Australia.

The Jana TriplePoint Fund is a core-satellite product based on the principle of alpha-beta separation. The product will include an allocation to alternative beta strategies and uses Partners’ Group managed account platform. The launch has been well-received and an initial invested amount of approximately AUD 300 million is expected by the end of the year.

Michael O’Dea, Principal for Alternative Investment Strategies at Jana, says: ‘We chose to cooperate with Partners Group based on their managed account platform, which offers sophisticated risk management and high levels of both liquidity and transparency. This, coupled with the cost-efficient portfolio structure of separating alpha (manager skill) and beta (market performance) including alternative beta strategies, addresses some of the major criticisms of the hedge fund industry.’

Lars Jaeger, who is responsible for the development of the Alternative Beta Strategies (ABS) program at Partners Group, further adds ‘The inclusion of an ABS component in the product currently being launched by Jana again underlines our assessment that alternative beta strategies will have a lasting impact on the hedge fund industry. We are pleased that the topic of efficiently replicating hedge fund returns by identifying their generic risk premiums is being embraced by the Australian market.’
