Alternative Investment Group, an alternative investment management firm that invests in long/short equity strategies, has promoted Chris Ayton to Partner, effective January 1, 2011.

Ayton was previously Director of Investments, a position he has held since March 2008 when he joined the firm.  He serves on the firm’s six-person Investment Committee.

Ayton, who is based in London and is the first Partner based internationally, is one one of seven equity partners at the firm. He will continue to focus on identifying and evaluating European and Asian managers.

"The success of our firm is directly related to the quality of our people, and Chris possesses the key attributes we look for in a Partner — deep knowledge and experience in investment markets, in this case,  European and Asian markets," says David Storrs, Chief Executive Officer of Alternative Investment Group. "He has done an outstanding job identifying excellent investment managers throughout Europe and Asia, and these regions will continue to be important to the firm looking ahead.  I congratulate Chris on his appointment."

Prior to joining Alternative Investment Group, Ayton spent 12 years at Stamford Associates where he was most recently Head of Manager Research. In his former role, he specialised in managers investing in Asia. He began his career at Bacon & Woodrow. Ayton holds a Bsc. in Economics from University of Southampton (UK).
