Barclays Wealth Investment Management has decided to launch a US equity multi-manager UCITS fund reported Citywire Global this week. The fund will be Dublin domiciled and focus primarily on small and mid-cap sectors whilst at the same time merging the expertise of three distinct manager styles: one growth, one value and one core. The firm’s head of multi management, Jaime Arguello (pictured), said the reason for this being an interesting product was because it was positioned in the “mid spectrum”, offering higher liquidity and lower volatility than pure small caps. Indeed, the new fund will offer daily liquidity across three share classes: USD, GBP and EUR. Nick Peters, a lead analyst for the new fund was quoted as saying: “There is a structural advantage to investing in small and mid caps due to the lack of brokerage coverage, we therefore want to take advantage of that.” By using three different manager strategies he said that their performance across various parts of the market cycle should collectively help the fund outperform “in most environments”.
