Cube Capital, the global hedge fund manager with offices in London and Hong Kong, has made strengthening its research capabilities a key priority with plans to add three new hires reported FINAlternatives this week. One of these, Rui Tang, has just joined the firm’s Hong Kong office where she will work as an investment analyst for Cube’s flagship Global Multi-Strategy fund: a FoHFs launched in 2003 and which currently runs USD830million in capital. Prior to joining Cube, Tang worked at US-based Fintan Partners, another FoHFs, where she spent over four years analyzing alternative investments in both developed and emerging markets. Two more research analysts are due to join later this summer, reflecting what Cube calls “increased interest” from institutional investors. Many hedge funds are bolstering their operational infrastructures as the industry evolves and becomes more institutionalized. Cube Capital CEO, Francois Buclez, said that the flagship fund’s seven-year track record and solid team had attracted institutional investors who are refocusing their attentions on top-tier FoFs. “Our team has already generated demonstrable alpha from both top-down and bottom-up perspectives and Rui will help us further refine and extend our global reach,” said Buclez. The firm currently manages north of USD1billion in AUM.
