Liquidnet, the off-exchange international liquidity provider that connects buy-side institutional investors, traders and public companies to global equity markets for secure, anonymous block trading announced this week the appointment of two key hires in Asia Pacific. James Chatfield joins the Sydney office to support sales in Australasia, whilst Angela Leong heads up the sales effort in Singapore. The two appointments come as Liquidnet looks to strengthen its presence in the region in response to strong economic growth. Both Chatfield and Leong have in-depth experience in electronic trading.

Chatfield reports to Director of Liquidnet, Australia, Sam Macqueen. Chatfield previously worked at Lazard Asset Management Pacific Co. where he traded equities in the Australian and Indian markets. Leong joins Liquidnet Singapore from Bloomberg Tradebook where she worked for four years providing DMA and algorithmic solutions to buy side institutions. Leong reports to Tracy Windham, head of Non-Japan Asia Pacific Sales.

Liquidnet Head of Asia Pacific, Lee Porter (pictured), said that following the success the firm had had in the region over the last three years, the two new appointments would deliver additional value to the business and its growing member base. “Both James and Angela bring strong industry credentials and an appreciation of how Liquidnet, through technology, is changing the trading landscape in Asia by allowing Members to secure large blocks of liquidity in a safe trading environment,” commented Porter.
