Mehdee Reza has been appointed by Morgan Stanley to head up the bank’s Asia prime brokerage division. Reza is currently Asia head of generalist cash sales in Hong Kong and will commence the new role in September. He will report directly to Alex Ehrlich, Morgan Stanley’s global head of prime brokerage in New York, and to Ed Sisterson, regional head of equity financing products in Hong Kong. Reza will be responsible for overseeing prime brokerage sales, capital introduction and client services in the region, including Japan and Australia. Capital introduction is increasingly being viewed as a value-add in the competitive prime brokerage space, the emphasis being on getting investor assets through the door of hedge fund clients. In a written statement emailed to Bloomberg, Ehrlich commented on Reza’s appointment by saying: “Mehdee’s wealth of experience in Asia and specifically with Asia hedge funds will help ensure we continue to offer the very best services to our global and regional client base.”
