Carne Group, a providers of hedge fund governance, has appointed senior US banker Fred Schilling as a Managing Director in its US office. The appointment comes as Carne expands its governance and oversight business in North America.

Schilling is a veteran prime broking professional of more than three decades’ experience. He helped to found and build up Bear Stearns’ hedge fund prime brokerage into an industry-leading business.  He spent more than 20 years at Bear Stearns, where he was a Senior Managing Director and helped to launch and support some of the most successful hedge fund firms in the US.

Fred's skill set will complement those of the existing Carne hedge fund team in the US and the Cayman Islands, which is comprised of high calibre individuals with extensive track records in the asset management industry.  This includes Joe Hardiman (ex-American Express) in New York and Peter Heaps (ex-RBC Dexia and HSBC/Bank of Bermuda), Roisin Cater (ex-Linklaters and Mourant du Feu & Jeune) and John Ackerley (ex-Bank of America and Maples Finance) in the Cayman Islands.
