“Greg is a preeminent commercial litigator who has built a national reputation for handling the most complex litigation matters over the course of his career,” says Kate Perrelli, chair of Seyfarth’s Litigation department. “As a nationally known trial lawyer, Greg strengthens our New York litigation group, and further bolsters our corporate and financial services internal investigation and litigation capabilities nationally.”

Markel is a member of the business law, litigation and antitrust sections of the American Bar Association; the Federal Bar Council; the City Bar Committee on Securities Litigation; the Securities Industry Association – compliance and legal division; the New York State Bar Association, commercial litigation section, and is a fellow of the New York Bar Foundation.

He currently sits on the charitable boards of the Legal Aid Society, Junior Achievement of New York, Historical Society for New York Courts and the New York County Lawyers Association (NYCLA) where he also serves as chairman of its Center for Corporate Governance.

“Greg’s focus in financial services, corporate governance, securities and antitrust litigation will add bench strength locally and nationally to our teams,” says John Napoli, co-managing partner of Seyfarth’s New York office.

Markel’s arrival follows the recent addition of litigation partners Jeremy Cohen, Tonya Esposito Oliver and Andrew Boutros.
