Macro Risk Advisors has expanded its sales trading team with the additions of Justin Golden, Daniel Kirsch, Phillip Rapoport, Gabe Catala, Jonathan Simblist and Jon McLaughlin to meet the needs of the growing client base of its equity derivatives focused broker dealer.

MRA provides institutional investors with derivatives market insight, actionable trade ideas and greater trade execution efficiency for equities, ETFs, listed options, and OTC derivatives.

"We had the opportunity to reunite the strongest members of the team that made the equity derivatives business at Banc of America Securities first by overall listed option market share in 2007," says Dean Curnutt, founder and president of MRA. "We are confident that MRA is defining the standard by which agency brokerage firms will be judged. To us, that means combining superior market insight and strategic advice on a daily basis with proven expertise in sales trading large and complex derivatives transactions."

Curnutt is formerly the head of equity sales trading at Banc of America Securities, a role he assumed after serving as head of institutional equity derivatives and convertible sales. In 2008, Curnutt began assembling a team of derivatives experts with a commitment to adding long term value to the investment process of institutional clients.

Members of the core team at BofA that have joined MRA include Golden, Rapoport, Kirsch, Simblist and Catala.

Golden, formerly a principal at BofA, provides strategy and execution in the areas of equity options, cash and ETF products and OTC derivatives. He was charged with building BofA’s institutional equity derivative sales effort in London and managed a team that was responsible for dealing in vanilla option and synthetic volatility products across Asian, European and US markets.

Kirsch was also most recently a member of the institutional equity derivative sales group in London with BofA, where he focused on building the sales platform. At MRA he provides strategy, market colour, and execution in the areas of equity options as well as cash and ETF products

Simblist is responsible for the development of the operational and technological components of the business at MRA, with expertise in the unique clearing aspects specific to equity derivatives. At BofA he was a vice president where in his most recent role he spearheaded the electronic option sales effort, responsible for coordinating the development of advanced electronic option trading solutions for institutional clients.

"It is very exciting for us to be together again, we each went in separate directions, which allowed us to build complementary skill sets and now we are able to easily leverage each other’s ideas and experience," says Golden. "With persistent elevated volatility and mispricing of risk, we see tremendous opportunities moving forward to continue to generate ideas and grow the firm."
