Infiniti Group appoints new Co-Head of Capital Markets division and expands global research team

Infiniti Group has appointed Matthew Birch as Co-Head of the company’s Capital Markets division.

Infiniti Group has appointed Matthew Birch as Co-Head of the company’s Capital Markets division.

The company has also expanded its global research team with the appointment of Xavier Fanjaud as a specialist qualitative researcher for the Asia region.

Birch, previously the Director of Business Development [Asia/Pacific] for Medley Global has been employed to assist expansion of the capital markets business, develop Infiniti’s wholesale funding infrastructure, and design and implement innovative derivative products.

Fanjaud, meanwhile, previously a Senior Investment Analyst with Pacific World Asset Management, Hong Kong, has been employed as part of an ongoing commitment to enhance global research capabilities for the group.

The expansion of our research capabilities in Asia gives Infiniti the advantage of better access to local information flows, allowing us to stay ahead of the game and identify outstanding funds in a timely manner.’

At Medley Global Advisors Birch was responsible for designing product for the Asia/Pacific region and developing and maintaining the company’s high level customer base.

Prior to MGA, Birch was the Group Treasurer for Banque National de Paris in Australia before heading the Fixed Income and Treasury unit for BNP Paribas after their merger in 1999. His responsibilities included building a Capital Markets business, setting up bond trading and distribution, setting up structured debt distribution and merging foreign exchange and treasury into global product lines.

Birch’s other roles include the Head of Foreign Exchange and Currency Options for Credit Lyonnais Asia in Singapore and Treasurer of Societe Generale in Hong Kong.

At Pacific World Asset Management Fanjaud was involved with the management of their fund of hedge funds. His duties included the ongoing development of the investment process, selection of fund managers, and asset allocation into various portfolios. He was also responsible for developing an Asian portfolio and recommending all of the Asian funds invested by the company.

Prior to Pacific World Asset Management, Fanjaud was the Research Manager for Sun Hung Kai Fund Management, responsible for monitoring portfolios and conducting due diligence on fund managers. Xavier began his career with Barep Asset Management in Paris before moving to Hong Kong.
