Alpine Woods announces new fund

Related Topics

Alpine Woods Capital Investors, LLC, the adviser to the Alpine Mutual Funds, has announced the inception of the Alpine Global Consumer Growth Fund.

Alpine’s newest fund will concentrate investments on opportunities in consumer products and services throughout the world. It is led by co-portfolio managers Bryan Keane and Samuel Lieber.

Keane has led the consumer products research team at Alpine since 2007. He also serves as co-portfolio manager of the Alpine Accelerating Dividend Fund. Before joining Alpine he was a vice president of US Trust Company. He is a graduate of Wesleyan University and holds an MBA from New York University.

"It [the new fund] will seek to capitalise on the opportunities of growing consumer markets and broadening demand for a wide range of consumer products throughout the world." says Keane. "We are particularly mindful of the fast developing middle class and its evolving consumer orientation in the emerging market countries, ranging from Brazil to China and India to Indonesia. We will particularly look for opportunities in innovative products and services creating new and better lifestyles for consumers everywhere."

The funding of this new fund at its inception follows an established pattern at Alpine, where the management provides the initial investment in order to establish the portfolio concept and strategy. This approach was followed by a number of recent Alpine Funds, including the Alpine Accelerating Dividend Fund, the Alpine Emerging Markets Real Estate Fund, and the Alpine Global Infrastructure Fund, all of which commenced operations during November 2008. In concept and strategy, each of these Funds was designed to focus on specific or distinct characteristics of a significant area of investment opportunity.

The Alpine Family of Funds encompasses USD6 billion of investments, with three main groups: dividend strategies, real estate investments and short term tax exempt income funds, together with the specialised equity funds.
