Hedge fund investors are cutting their exposure to China assets, with funds focussed on investments in Greater China-seeing the biggest net outflows in at least 15 years, according to a report by Reuters.
The report cites Eurekahedge data for the first seven months of 2022 as revealing that during the January-July period, Greater China-focused hedge funds recorded outflows of $5.6 billion and inflows of $2.01 billion.
Year-to-date net outflows total $3.6 billion which is higher than any full-year outflows since the hedge fund database began compiling such data in 2008. By comparison, in 2021, Greater China-focused funds saw net inflows of $1.8 billion and a whopping $8.7 billion in 2020.
