US hedge fund Davidson Kempner Capital Management is to lose the services of Risto Koivula, one of Europe’s most senior merger arbitrage specialists and a partner at the firm, according to a report by Bloomberg.

The report cites unnamed sources as revealing that Koivula is planning to quit Davidson Kemper by the end of the year and will initially take some time out to “pursue personal interests”. Several possibilities are reportedly on the cards including establish his own fund.
Koivula, who is based in London, joined Davidson Kempner in 2010 having previously served as head of risk arbitrage and a co-manager at Tisbury Capital Management.
