Balyasny Asset Management has continued to expand its London operation with the hire of former Eisler Capital portfolio manager Akshat Shrivastava, as talent from the closed hedge fund finds new roles across the industry, according to a report by Financial News London.

Shrivastava, an interest rates options specialist, has joined the multi-strategy firm as a Portfolio Manager, according to his LinkedIn profile. He joins Balyasny following his departure from Eisler Capital last year.
Prior to Eisler, Shrivastava spent more than 13 years at Morgan Stanley, where he held a number of senior roles, including executive director focused on interest rates options trading.

The appointment forms part of a broader hiring push at Balyasny, which has been strengthening its London presence following a strong performance year.

Balyasny manages approximately $31bn in assets and is currently recruiting for close to 100 roles globally. In London, the firm is advertising for 14 positions, including a geopolitical market analyst, engineers and quantitative researchers, according to LinkedIn listings.

The firm has been actively building out its macro and trading capabilities in the UK capital. Over the past year, it has hired several senior market professionals, including former Goldman Sachs trader Wajih Ahmed, who joined as a macro portfolio manager, and ex-Goldman Sachs FX options trader Simon Costello.

Former Eisler Capital portfolio manager Nikolaos Rapanos also joined Balyasny’s macro team in December, underscoring the firm’s continued recruitment of experienced managers following Eisler’s collapse.
