Balyasny Asset Management portfolio manager Allen Zhang has left the firm after a year to return to Cinctive Capital, where he previously spent two years as a Portfolio Manager, according to a report by Financial News London.
Zhang initially joined Balyasny in 2024, having started his career at 3G Capital and later spent nine years at Point72, including a promotion to portfolio manager in 2017.
The move underscores the ongoing talent war among top hedge funds, with firms offering multi-million-dollar packages to attract and retain senior investment professionals. Cinctive Capital, co-founded by Citadel alum Richard Schimel and headquartered in New York, manages $3bn in assets and posted a 12% gain through November 2025.
