Stephen Peyser has joined multi-strategy hedge fund major Balyasny Asset Management as the firm’s new Global Head of Trading and Capital Markets, effective last month, according to a report by eFinancialCareers.
Peyser arrives at Balyasny after an 11-year tenure at Bank of America, where he most recently served as Head of US Cash Equities Trading, a role he held for six years. He was elevated to Managing Director in 2020.
Prior to his time at BofA, Peyser honed his skills at Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan, where he spent a total of five years.
While building his career in finance, Peyser also played professional lacrosse at the highest level. For six years, Peyser played Major League Lacrosse, competing for two of the league’s most successful teams: the New York Lizards and the Chesapeake Bayhawks.
During his playing career, Peyser was a key midfielder, earning Rookie of the Week honours twice in three weeks, including a standout performance against the defending champion Philadelphia Barrage. His efforts helped propel the Lizards to a .500 record for the first time in over a decade, right before he transitioned to JPMorgan’s equities desk.
