Platt’s fortune of £11.5 billion – up £1.5 billion from last year as BlueCrest profited from rising interest rates – puts him ahead of 18 other hedge fund managers in tiger list, including second placed TCI Fund Management’s Sir Chris Hohn (£5bn) who was also singled out for being the most generous among the wealthy with his £2.1m daily charity donations, which equates to £86,000 per hour.
Chris Rokos, the former Brevan Howard star trader and founder of Rokos Capital Management, is worth £2 billion, making him the third richest hedge fund manager, while Brevan Howard boss, Alan Howard, is the fourth richest hedge fund manager, with a £1.75 billion fortune, up £200m on the previous year.
The UK’s fifth wealthiest hedge fund manager is Michael Hintze, a British Peer, who has built up a £1.71 billion fortune with his credit-focused multi-strategy fund CQS.
