Multi-strategy hedge fund Jain Global has strengthened its macro trading capability with the hire of Jiujiu Xiong, a senior rates trader formerly at Barclays, according to a report by Financial News London citing unnamed people familiar with the move.
Xiong has joined Jain Global as a macro portfolio manager and will be based in the firm’s Singapore office, expanding its presence in Asia. At the fund, he is expected to focus on global macro and rates trading.
Xiong spent more than 15 years at Barclays, joining the bank in 2010 and rising to managing director. Most recently, he served as Asia-Pacific head of rates options trading, where he built deep expertise across interest rates and derivatives markets.
The hire follows a series of senior additions by Jain Global as it continues to build out its macro platform. In December, the firm recruited Alex Coats, JPMorgan’s former head of European government bond trading, as a macro portfolio manager.
