Aladdin Capital Holdings has appointed Kathleen Stephansen as chief economist.
Stephansen (pictured) brings extensive international economics experience to this new position, having served as head of global economics at Credit Suisse (2000-2009) and co-head of economic research/chief international economist in the fixed income division of Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette (1984-2000).
Stephansen was most recently a senior adviser and task force member for the Asia Society on Rebalancing the US – Asia Economic Relationship. She is widely published and her opinion is regularly sought by global and national economic affairs commentators.
Neal Neilinger, chief investment officer at Aladdin, says: ‘Economic research is a key ingredient to business strategy. Current market events and investment decisions are being driven by macroeconomic developments as the economy faces the double challenge of overcoming a dramatic cyclical downturn and equally profound structural changes. In light of this, we are thrilled to have an economist of Kathleen Stephansen’s calibre join us at Aladdin. Her appointment adds a great deal of depth to the firm in terms of forecasting, client focus and brand.’
Stephansen has served as president of the New York Association for Business Economics in 2008-09 and on a council on foreign relations advisory committee. She has published in the Bank For International Settlements Papers. She is a member of the National Association for Business Economics, the Economic Club of New York, and the Forecasters Club of New York, is a member of the YWCA Academy of High Women Achievers and serves on the board of the Ms. Foundation for Women.
