Point72 Asset Management, the systematic hedge fund firm founded by Steve Cohen, has started the year with a rejig of its legal team, with Deputy General Counsel Jason Colombo taking on the role of General Counsel, according to a report by Bloomberg.

Colombo will continue to report to Vincent Tortorella, a former Federal Prosecutor, who was appointed Chief Surveillance Officer at the firm a decade ago, and assumed the top legal leadership post at the firm as General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer in early 2020.

The report cites Point72 as saying in a statement that former Schulte Roth & Zabel associate Colombo, who joined the firm in 2016 after a four-year spell at Goldman Sachs Group, will continue to oversee legal matters for the firm’s core hedge fund business.

Other recent moves in Point72’s legal team include the promotion of Adam Jablon to deputy general counsel, Gabrielle Sherwood to compliance officer and counsel, and Cody Friesz to associate general counsel. Oliver Knight meanwhile, joined the firm in London this month as a Regional Assistant General Counsel.
