Point72 taps Schonfeld HR boss as Chief Human Resources Officer

Point72 has hired Jennifer Cohen, Head of Human Capital at royal hedge fund firm Schonfeld Strategic Advisors, as its new Chief Human Resources Officer, highlighting how the talent war between elite multi-manager funds is expanding beyond PMs and analysts, according to a report by Business Insider.

The report cites an internal memo seen buy Business Insider as revealing that Cohen will officially join Steve Cohen’s $38bn firm in January. The memo, penned by Chief Operating Officer Gavin O’Connor, positions her as a central figure in driving the firm’s people strategy and scaling its HR infrastructure amid global expansion.

“Jenn will play a pivotal role in advancing our human resources strategy, focusing on enhancing talent management, supporting organisational growth, and reinforcing our culture of excellence,” wrote O’Connor.

Cohen brings over 25 years of experience across human capital, operations, and organisational leadership. Before joining Steve Schonfeld’s eponymous fund in 2022, she held senior roles at Goldman Sachs and Global Atlantic, a private equity-backed insurer. At Schonfeld, she was instrumental in navigating a turbulent 2023, marked by restructuring, performance volatility, and swirling M&A speculation involving rival Millennium.

Point72, based in Stamford, Connecticut, has a significantly larger footprint than Schonfeld, with over 2,900 employees globally, compared to Schonfeld’s 872, according to the latest filings. The two firms are part of a shrinking circle of multi-manager giants – alongside Millennium, Citadel, and Balyasny – locked in an intensifying race for top-tier talent and institutional flows.

Schonfeld, which rebounded with strong returns in 2024 and into 2025 after last year’s challenges, declined to comment on Cohen’s departure.
