Multi-strategy hedge fund Schonfeld Strategic Advisors has strengthened its volatility trading platform by hiring Arthur Goossens, formerly co-head of commodities trading at BNP Paribas, according to a report by Bloomberg.
Goossens, promoted just last year from head of precious metals trading, will focus on trading volatility across multiple asset classes, including metals, supporting Schonfeld’s expansion in discretionary macro, fixed income, and volatility strategies.
The move highlights the ongoing competition for top trading talent, as hedge funds and trading houses increasingly lure senior commodities traders from banks with the promise of larger bonuses and more flexible trading opportunities. Recent similar moves include Benjamin Binet-Laisne leaving Goldman Sachs for Mercuria Energy and senior metals traders at HSBC joining crypto firm Tether.
