Tiger Global makes PopUp Bagels investment at $300m Valuation

Related Topics

Chase Coleman’s Tiger Global Management has agreed to back PopUp Bagels in a deal that values the fast-growing brand at around $300m, according to a report by Bloomberg citing unnamed sources familiar with the transaction.

The valuation marks a sharp increase — roughly fivefold — compared with estimates from late 2025.

The investment was finalised in late March, the sources said, noting that details remain private. PopUp Bagels declined to comment directly on the deal but confirmed that Stripes continues to be its largest shareholder. Tiger Global reportedly did not respond to requests for comment.

The funding comes as the company looks to capitalise on strong social media-driven demand, particularly via TikTok, and accelerate its national rollout. PopUp Bagels aims to scale rapidly, targeting up to 300 US locations within the next four years. It currently operates 29 outlets, with recent expansion into markets including Chicago, Boston and Florida.

Tiger Global joins a roster of existing backers led by Stripes, which has also invested in brands such as Erewhon and Levain Bakery. Additional support has come from Tastemaker Capital Partners, which has previously attracted high-profile investors including athletes JJ Watt and Michael Phelps.

Earlier funding rounds completed in October valued the company at approximately $60m and resulted in Stripes taking a majority stake, according to prior reports. Stripes declined to comment on the updated valuation.

PopUp Bagels began as a small-scale venture during the pandemic, initially operating out of a backyard in Connecticut before opening a permanent site in Westport and expanding across the New York metropolitan area.

The brand has developed a strong following for its distinctive approach: smaller, airy bagels offered in a limited selection of flavours, sold with a minimum order requirement. Customers are encouraged to follow the company’s signature “grip, rip and dip” method, pairing unsliced bagels with rotating cream cheese flavours such as cake batter.
