London-based absolute return investment manager RAB Capital has appointed Osman Shafi, who was previously was instrumental in the development of the investor relations process at Brevan Howard, as head of fixed income sales. Shafi began his career at Goldman Sachs and subsequently spent four years at Wellington Management.

‘We are delighted that someone of Osman’s calibre and extensive client relationships has chosen to join RAB,’ says director of business development Rod Barker. ‘His expertise in fixed income and macro-related strategies will help the positioning and distribution of the expanding range of RAB strategies in this area.’

RAB Capital was founded in 1999, and floated on London’s Alternative Investment Market in March 2004. As of the beginning of May the group had USD6.16bn in assets under management in 14 absolute return strategies with assets in excess of USD100m (12 single-strategy and two multi-strategy) as well as the AIM-listed RAB Special Situations Company.

The firm says its philosophy is to find highly talented investment managers and provide them with an environment where they can successfully dedicate themselves to running focused investment strategies.
