Tajinder (Natty) Singh has joined Venus as Boston-based  Venus Capital Management, Inc., the investment management company specialising in Asian investments. As Vice President, Trading Strategist, Natty will focus on market neutral trading in Asian markets.

Vik Mehrotra, CEO of Venus Capital, says, ‘Natty’s addition to the team provides us with more depth in trading and research, at a time when alpha generation has become a challenge due to various global macro factors and the credit crises.’

Natty has several years of experience in successfully developing quantitative absolute return trading strategies for equity and derivative trading in emerging markets. Most recently, he was employed as a Vice President at Fortis Bank, NY where he was instrumental in managing the proprietary trading desk for market neutral strategies. Before Fortis, Natty worked at the Long Champ Group, a large Fund of Funds based in NY.

‘At a time, when Asian hedge funds are struggling for returns and the industry is going through a retrenchment facing redemptions, Venus is working on improving its infrastructure of alpha generating team, network and IT infrastructure and fund offerings to benefit when liquidity flows return back to Asia’, adds Vikas Chawla, Chief Operating Officer, Venus Capital.
