Heidrick & Struggles International, an advisory firm providing executive search and leadership consulting services, has made two senior appointments in its North American buy-side sectors.

Daniel Edwards (pictured), global head of financial services who previously developed Heidrick’s hedge fund business, will be once again lead the hedge fund sector as part of his management responsibilities and Chad Astmann will lead the North American asset management sector practice.

The new leadership team is in part a response to both traditional asset management and hedge fund clients who are looking for wider talent consultation across the entire buy-side and sell-side market spectrum.

"Bottom-line, we are listening to our clients. Our asset management and hedge fund clients are dramatically rethinking their human capital strategies. Our cross-sector approach to human capital solutions positions Heidrick to be the leading provider of talent expertise and beyond," says Edwards.

Prior to his new role Edwards was managing partner of geographies and regional managing partner for the firm’s business in Asia Pacific and co-global head of the financial services practice. He also was partner-in-charge of the Tokyo office and ran the Asia Pacific financial services practice. Prior to that, Edwards also managed the Wall Street office in New York and co-headed the hedge fund practice.

Astmann has been with the firm for over five years, having joined the financial services practice in New York in 2005 from another international search firm. Astmann will be leading a team of consultants focused on talent management needs at the firm’s asset management clients.
