Leading international law firm, Mourant Ozannes, has appointed Morven McMillan (pictured) and Julian Fletcher as Partners. Both will be based in the firm’s Cayman Islands office.

The promotions follow a number of recent senior hires for Mourant Ozannes’ Cayman office, including Robert Duggan, Simon Palmer and Caroline Spottiswoode who joined the firm earlier this year and who practice Cayman law from the firm’s London and Jersey offices.
McMillan is Head of the Trusts Practice Group in the Cayman Islands office. She joined Mourant Ozannes on 1 October 2010, having previously held the position of Partner and Head of Trust & Fiduciary Disputes at Charles Russell in London. McMillan is an experienced practitioner in the Cayman Islands having previously spent five years working with the Litigation and International Trusts & Private Client Departments at Walkers. She is a highly respected and recognised specialist in the field of contentious and non-contentious trusts and is named as a leading practitioner in the Legal 500 and Chambers.
McMillan attended the University of St Andrews, in Scotland. She was admitted as an English solicitor in 1996. An active member of the Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners (STEP), and of the Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists (ACTAPS), McMillan also speaks regularly at international conferences.
Fletcher is a member of the Funds Practice Group in the Cayman Islands and specialises in all aspects of corporate work with a particular focus on investment funds. He has extensive experience in establishing hedge funds and private equity funds and in dealing with distressed funds.
Prior to joining the firm in 2004, Fletcher practised for almost five years in New York and Toronto with Shearman & Sterling LLP in the derivatives and capital markets groups. At Shearman & Sterling, Fletcher advised Canadian and international companies with respect to public and private finance transactions in a broad range of industries including information technology, petro-chemicals, mining, pharmaceuticals, entertainment and telecommunications. Julian also represented investment banks and underwriting syndicates as their counsel in the negotiation and execution of securities transactions.
Fletcher obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Toronto in 1995 and a Bachelor of Law degree from the University of Liverpool in 1998. He completed his professional qualifications at the Inns of Court School of Law in London, and obtained a Diploma in Professional Legal Skills from City University in London. He was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 1999, the New York Bar in 2001 and to the BVI Bar in 2003. More recently, he was admitted as an English Solicitor and an Attorney in the Cayman Islands in 2004.
